The World Snooker Championship is professional snooker’s longest-running, most prestigious, and wealthiest tournament.

First held in 1927, the World Snooker Championship was dominated over its first two decades by Joe Davis, who won the first 15 championships before retiring undefeated after his final win in 1946.

Stephen Hendry is the youngest champion in the tournament’s history, having won his first title in 1990, aged 21 years and 106 days. Ray Reardon is the oldest champion, having won his last title in 1978, aged 45 years and 203 days.
